The Heart of Ohio For Casey James

Casey James returns to Ohio this week for Musica in downtown Akron a live event held yearly. What's a surprise to me is how loved Casey is here, the support and loyality is truly wonderful. My hometown of Hartville and surrounding areas, Canton and Akron have embraced James since his first gig last August for the North Canton Main Street Festival. James' heart lives here, I'm not hearing any complaints. The Canton Repository's Dan Kane recently chatted with Casey, I must say Kane and James are a match made in heaven.

What you might have missed from the 47th Academy of Country Music Awards will want you to relive the moment all over again. The pivitol highlights of the evening a wedding, a real wedding acompanied by the duet of  Martina McBride and Train's Pat Monahan performing "Mary Me". The story behind the wedding would make a grown man cry,the bride lost her husband from a tragic event early on in her life,and as a widow and single mom of two found true love again.

Keith Urban performed "For You" in honor of the military, the song featured on the soundtrack  for the the film Act of Valor. It's the sacrifice made in the day to day military struggle and fight. Urban's performance shows footage of the film. Attendee's were of those in the military services.

Zac Brown Band brings Brad Paisley to the stage to perform "Whisky's Gone" in which Paisley gives homage to Zac Brown wearing of course in  Brad Paisley fashion a beanie. The rowsing performance was truly an instrumental high note. Paisley showing his guitar licks giving Zac Brown a run for it.


Little Big Town brought us awareness of Child Hunger in our nation,  a young children's choir acompanied them in song, it just so happened to be a performance non of us will forget,it does put a great effect on us in this world how many children go without food. Country music is comming center stage, and already two awards have been handed out before the live telecast of the 47th Academy of Country Music Awards airing at 8pm ET/PT on CBS hosted by Reba and Blake Shelton.

The gorgeous Carrie Underwood opens the show with her new single "Good Girl", I admire Carrie for her continued enthusiasim for the song,however fans have mixed views and opinions on the song all together. Cleverly in mind the bright flashing light on the end of her mic,genius idea. I find it hard to fathom why country is giving the song more promotion where as it's more rock friendly. I may not hold back much longer on my feelings, i'm normal folks. Chris Young, this man can't go wrong,what a performance of his newest single "Save Water Drink Beer" now that's true country to my heart.Zac Brown Band tells us to keep them in mind with their hit single "Keep Me In Mind", what a performance.The Band Perry have had quite a year already, they've come so far and now a new single from their platnium debut album "Postcard From Paris", I'm surprised it's been released as a single, not a song I would have choosen,however Kimberly Perry can't go wrong vocally as she bops on stage,yet not what I expect, I just adore this trio regardless. Blake Shelton takes on "Drink On It" kudos Blake, there's a reason I like this song, where's the bad boy in ya' though, I'm missing it.ACM New Artist nominee's each perform their hit's Brantley Gilbert "Country Must Be Country Wide", Hunter Hayes " Storm Warning" and Scotty McCreery's newest single "Water Tower Town", undoubtly Brantley Gilbert may not have a teen fan base, however has paid his dues regardless who wins the fan voted award, Gilbert rocks the stage in his one minute set,that's how it's done. Lady Antebellum keeps dancing away with our hearts on "Dancin' Away With Your Heart", while Toby Keith brings us a party on the mega hit "Red Solo Cup". Rascal Flatts are giving us what BANJO is about bringing the multi-talented Steve Martin to the stage this evening playing Banjo.This three hour event is bigger than any concert you'll attend this year,performances you'll love and talk about the next day.

I find the process of writing the most theraputic, expressive, raw feeling a person can go through. Collectively an artist and a songwriter have complete creative freedom when working together. Casey James is having the good life these days, we owe American Idol for it and although Casey placed 3rd I'm not hearing any complaints, anyone and everyone know it's not all based on winning the title of American Idol. Casey is truly grateful for the opportunities given to him. I'm absolutely proud to celebrate,as you the fans are as well celebrating the release of Casey's debut album this week. In light of the release of the album Casey's promoting the music and from what I'm hearing it's an album worth having,expect to see an album review later this week. American Idol 3rd place finisher Casey James is making waves across music row as reviews pour in before it's set release date March 20th, fans are itching with Casey James fever,who wouldn't? James' debut will feature an eclectic sound of blues, soul, and rock; what an excellent formula of country. I'm feeling the excitement brewing in me,I'm such a fan. Anyone who's ever met James will tell you how humble, sincere and grateful he is to be where he's meant to be and that's in country music, hard work and a whole lot of faith in yourself makes a star. James is that bright shining star, he's going far.
The moments and highlights at this point Casey is surely soaking in and taking advantage of what's yet to come, as we should know promoting the album and it getting it out to the fans is part of the magic in country music, because without a fanbase there'd be no Casey James. Sounds about right huh fans?

Paper is our canvas to where the pen is our instrument, each and every one of us connect through a song, there are many songs, some are released as singles, those singles become hits, what you should know is how powerful lyrics are to a song. Behind the scene's music is happening, being created and crafted into a masterpiece, I call it pure magic. Feeling connected to an artist and their music is just a small fragment in the music world. It's the writers who bring authenticity and reality together, what they live through, what inspires them or simply having that feel good emotion. Those writers work hands on with an artist or artists, collaborations are born. I always look to what the story is behind a song,it's that one feature I get super excited about reading in Country Weekly Magazine.
Some of our most prolific songs are the most inspirational and relatable to us.
Rascal Flatts "I'm Moving On", "God Bless The Broken Road", "These Days", "What Hurts The Most", "I Won't Let Go" have been the most meaningful songs the Flatts and their
co-writers have created together. We truly connect on these songs,writer  Jason Sellers of "I Won't Let Go" was in the moment writing the song. I remember Jason telling readers in an issue of Country Weekly, the song is about being there for someone who's going through tough times, having that friend,spouse,parent, sibling, anyone who you will stand beside not letting go of them in their darkest time. I connected to the song emotionally having a friend who needed me during some tough times and him for me, It was that relateable. Songs make such an impact on a person's life,it's quite theraputic, emotionally and physcially freeing.  I always tell someone if you can't find the words right then and there and weighing on your heart write it out,it really is the best therapy and it's free of charge.  Leslie Satcher had Kellie Pickler right at mind when "Tough" came about.
"I ain't never been nothing but tough/All my edges have always been rough/ But Jesus loves me anyway". Yes, Kellie Pickler had a rough upbringing,matter of fact she love's Jesus and is rough around the edges,sometimes we have to be.
Recognizing the writers in the music industry have left me open minded and completely open hearted to continue the path in writing after all,writing is real art. It's a blessing to able to connect with you, country fans. Your all so incredible!

Luke Bryan Feels Like Spring Break

These days Luke Bryan is soaking up what has been like biscuits on gravy,smooth sailing along while on touring duties with fellow friend Georgia native Jason Aldean and the newest country act to come off from last year's Idol roster Lauren Alania on the My Kinda Party tour. Bryan's latest single release "Suntan City" comes from the newest spring break EP which is the fourth of spring break EP's released. This small town farm boy knows how to party like a college kid. Word is out Luke's next single to come from the Tailgates & Tanlines album will be "Drunk On You". Bryan's career at this point continues to shine and I plan to be there a long the way.
