In Memory Of George Jones

Though George Jones personal and private life was a made for TV drama mini series, his voice was most recognizable in country music that truly inspired generations to come, the artists we listen to today from Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson, Kellie Pickler, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton,Jake Owen, Chris Young to name among others. George's southern twang was a perfect fit of honky tonk, rebelion and charm that was undeniably eye catching. It was the realness of George audiences were connected with and the likeliness he had with others. A true entertainer and sometimes unreliable though was dubbed the possum that stuck with him through out the course of his career. Under neath his exterior George Jones was a man who could be understood, not complex by any means. Jones will be greatly missed in country music and leaves behind several memories we can count.
The country music industry has lost a true icon and legend.

Phil Vassar LIVE Dusty Armadillo Show Recap

The man behind the most loved country songs such as Carlene, American Child, Don't Waste Your Life and the brand new single Love Is Alive performed at the ACM nominated Dusty Armadillo Saturday April 20th. Vassar's exuberant personality and enthusiasm was felt from the massive crowd of country fans. The most devoted fans were in fact ahead of the pact waiting for the event to begin lining up before the venue opened it's doors. I was there to witness Phil Vassar fever at it's best.

Vassar who took to the stage at 10pm gave the crowd what they came for, his eyes lit with joy and interaction was beyond incredible, shaking hands, mine included in the sea of fans. His professionalism, love and passion exudes and all that much more enjoyable to say the least. Phil's larger than life stage presence through each number went through leaps and bounds, though Phil is most likely to perform atop of the piano, the ceiling height was his concern, however made the best out of the situation with his clownful tactics.

Notably Vassar bursts into a rendition of Willie Nelson's "On The Road Again" he apologizes "I'm sorry I did that" before smoothly sailing back into "My Next 30 Years".  Not straying from his piano Phil pulls out his musical chops on the classics of the 60's, "Stay" and My Girl" with the band's lead guitarist, the vocal range was well in doubt superbly authentic to the original version. To have the pipes to pull that off is number one in my book. Through out "Just Another Day In Paradise" and "Six Pack Summer" the crowd interaction came to a fever pitch to the point of me plugging my ears.Yikes!! a crowd that loud would make a person loose their hearing.

At one point or another asks the crowd what they want to hear and upon requests performs the most recognized song of his career "Carlene" and even a few I haven't heard to be completely honest. Vassar's continued crowd interaction led him to receiving notes from the corners of the stage, some read and wished one a happy birthday. Phil certainly touches those he's around, appreciating the format he's in, in able to connect on such a personal level. When it came time to performing "Last Day of My Life" Vassar welts up showing his more vulnerable side,as there is more to the man than one thinks.

Certainly Vassar's connect with an audience gives them reason to follow him across country, as they very well do in most cases. Phil points and smiles to those he recognizes, cheering right along having a night that would soon not end, he says to the crowd " I could go all night". As I walk through the crowd to leave due to exhaustion Vassar keeps on and keeping on was his intent giving his audience what they came for. A staged artist who continues to give back in a way Phil does is a superb individual, it is well appreciated.
Phil Vassar delivered a concert no person will forget.

The 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards Highlights and Winners

The 48th annual Academy of Country Music awards was a night of hits and misses, stay tune to Country Music City Promotions for all the night's highlights and performances in the coming day and for the full list of winners not presented during the televised program.

The night's festivities include several performances, though some fell short of the most memorable one's most will talk about in years to come. Recieving a standing ovation for his "Like Jesus Does" performance Eric Church delivered with only his guitar and back round vocalist. The stripped down acoustic performance was shearly emotional yet entertaining for the viewing audience.
Though Blake Shelton served as co-host and performed in the opening number of the program with fellow co-host Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow and Pistol Annies, it was however his unplugged acoustic version of his current single "Sure Be Cool If You Did" that certainly generated a memorable highlight of the night. Miranda Lambert's performance of "Mama's Broken Heart" was clearly an off the wall, full of angst moment, Lambert delivered the goods.
Tim McGraw brought to the stage his fellow peers Keith Urban and Taylor Swift for "Highway Don't Care", these vocals together are well in synced, matched for McGraw and Swift to Urban's musicality.
Brad Paisley and John Mayer is quite the pairing, yet tantilizing to the ears, their musicality on Paisley's newest single "Beat This Summer" had a laid back summer vibe.  I'd say Brad Paisley fans were digging the performance.
The nights highlighted moment Garth Brooks and George Straight honoring Dick Clark, performing his #1 hit The Dance, Brooks brought such emotion and sincerity. Together performing "Cowboy Rides Away" Brooks and Straight sound matched as true icons of country music.
As if the highlights of the night would soon fade, not one bit, Jewel took to the stage to perform a medley of "Hands" and the Tori Kelly song "Fill A Heart" written for the Child Hunger program. Jewel's performance was simply breath taking, her piercing notes shine. As some performances lacked emotional connect they sure did pop for the younger fan bases among the crowd, and from the roaring of screams for Carrie Underwood, The Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line and Hunter Hayes I say they got what they wanted and more.
The most memorable award winning moment was in fact for Entertainer of The Year, the fan voted award went to Luke Bryan who was emotionally humbled, shed several tears before his acceptance speech, it was a well deserved win for Bryan.
The 48th annual Academy of Country Music Awards certainly gave audiences young and old alike a little everything for the fans.
