Casey James Room To Breathe On New Music

All Rights Reserved, Courtesy of 19/Columbia Nashville

It's been more than two years since his debut album now Casey James readies a new album and a new direction in his life as a person,  musician, artist and entertainer. One shouldn't pigeon hole James who's much more than just a  singer song writer. The growth and maturity shows in his style and artistry. The first single release on the highly anticipated sophomore album yet to be announced, "Fall Apart" was a song he heard from his producer. Written by Zach and Josh Carter of KINGSTON along with Will Bowden came about on inspiration in an earlier interview with KINGSTON ( see KINGSTON interview on the next page) James was so intent on having the song as it resonated with him. One who has heard "Fall Apart" the lyrics ring true to moving on from a broken heart or torn relationship. Several can relate.
Currently on a state to state radio tour James previews new material, one song that will appear on the soon to be album "Living Room" has a bluesy, southern country vibe. Again it's eminent on the direction James takes  lyrically and musically in either choosing material or writing his own. In the two plus years Casey's views have changed yet when it comes down to it he's the same person he was just 5 years ago on the indicated reality TV music competition American Idol, James third place finish was just the beginning of a career fans knew early on. As myself saw much more than a musician, someone who's faced adversity and the growing challenges men his age deal with, it's human nature, and clearly Casey has risen above it all in faith. What more can be is the sense of humor and not taking himself so seriously as he recently sat down with Big D and Bubba In The Morning Show Monday March 30th, the day "Fall Apart" impacted radio. Casey discussed a number of topics and one on a friend recommending a supplement he should try, he explains "Not only does this green concoction smell like grass it tastes like it. This is cows food, not something any human should drink, so I tried it," he laughs. D and Bubba simultaneously burst saying, "maybe it came from cow stock." Laughing as I did thought, okay here is country music's biggest Goobers in one room having just a good ole time. Nothing wrong with it either making the morning show that much better. James brings up to discussion the process a bit on this album which was clearly getting it right, all that he has gone through in these past two years to get this album together. "The growing up I did to where I am now is in this music", he explained. James is so excited fans are bursting at the seams to when the album will be complete and ready to hear in it's entirety. From radio station to radio station to fan chats, Q & A's Casey's itching to hit the road more in 2015, and already have several shows coming up in the next few months. Visit Casey James Official for all the dates.

It's All In The Family: Mother of Casey and Billy Cole James Debra James Paves The Way

Credit to Debra (Bybee) James: Twitter

The most endearing  James family has  heart, passion and soul, what more can you say of Debra James, mother of musicians Billy Cole (B.C) and Casey James. Debra's voice serves a comfort and joy to listeners. Vocally a star herself, humbled in her ways Debra's musicality conveys truth and authenticity. One could compare Debra to the likes of Emmylou Harris and Alison Krauss. To most Casey James fans Debra is known as Bybee on the social networking site Twitter soon to be a Facebook user but don't count her out of showing up daily on the networking site. Among her musical abilities  Debra has her full time day job among  music and performing. Debra's first released full album Cross That Line in 2006 under the direction of Debra herself Cross That Line reminiscences of music and craft men ship of real Americana traditional sound. The stories told paint a picture that ring true to the all American person. The 12 track album is available for purchase and download on Amazon and iTunes

In my own daily accounts with Debra I continue to feel, see and hear conviction, honesty, spirituality and a whole lot of love.  One says the power and passion of one's voice can move mountains and I truly believe it, it is a rare form in country music today. Debra who is currently working on a brand new album soon to be released will cross that bridge and I for one am looking forward to it. It's all in the family, Debra's youngest Casey is remembered from American Idol season 9. The alum went on to release his self titled debut album in March of 2012 gained a large fan base, toured the country and had a couple hit singles "Let's Don't Call It A Night" and "Crying On A Suitcase". Since then Casey continues to perform and tour and began work on a follow up, the highly anticipated sophomore album due out later this year. Fans can expect a fall release.

What more could there be?, Debra's oldest Billy Cole (BC) has the artistry touch who launched James Bands earlier this year, the bands began during the year Casey spent on American Idol and through out that time every band of all leather hand designed and crafted by Billy himself comes down to the stitch, every band has it uniqueness. You will get that and more from the maker himself. Aside of a designer himself BC is as well a musician, it sure is all in the family.

The tight knit James family may as well have had their ups and downs through the years though one thing for certain God and music keep them moving forward.

Rising Artists Casey James, Sarah Darling, Striking Matches, Mark Wilkinson and NAfME Salute Music Teachers

Sarah Darling, Casey James, Striking Matches and Mark Wilkinson will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2013 NAfME National In-Service Conference at the Grand Ole Opry house in Nashville on Monday October 27,2013.

James who is best known for his days on American Idol season 9 has gone on to release his self titled debut album in March of 2012, touring across the country, releasing 3 singles "Let's Don't Call It A Night", "Crying On A Suitcase" and "The Good Life". Casey's love and passion for music and music education ring true for the musician who picked up his first guitar at the age of 14. "I really appreciate what music teachers are doing for aspiring musicians", he said. "Music is very important to me and I'm glad I can be a part of NAfME's conference".

For Sarah Darling it is a huge honor who is named the 2013 recipient of NAfME's
"Stand For Music" award adds, "My 7th and 8th grade music teacher, Ms.Stephanie Rumple, was a great influence on me. It was her careful guidance and passion for the arts that started me on my musical journey. I feel like I owe her, and all of the music teachers out there who help preserve music in our schools a huge "thank -you', for all they do. This concert will hopefully resonate with them as our way of showing thanks for their work that sometimes goes unrecognized!"

James and Darling will join their peers Striking Matches ( MTV, VH1, CMT's O Music Awards finalist) and Australian chart topper Mark Wilkinson ("Middle Ground", "All I Ever Wanted") to perform their fan-favorite songs in an exclusive intimate setting reserved for those who inspire students through music.

The concert at the Grand Ole Opry house is one of the many highlights planned for the four day NAfMe National In-Service Conference taking place from October 27th through the 30th, where the main theme centers around ways in which "Music Education Orchestrates Succcess"- in school, in work and in life.

Teachers and school administrators who attend will address the proposed re-authorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, gain new insights into how classroom teaching styles are being evaluated, attend targeted professional development workshops, and celebrate the achievements of some of the nation's most distinguished student musicians.

Casey James Wows Crowd At Dusty Armadillo Winter Concert Series 9-28-13

Country Music City Promotions, Shellie Palmer

Undeniable passion and soul filled the Dusty Armadillo Saturday September 28th, with his return to the Dusty stage Casey James is the epitome of  a musician, his eyes widen and he who takes great joy playing for a crowd. By the number of the crowd, the ladies of the night swoon over James that find him gushing. James' musicality is one for the books and the musicians that take the lead in the band Jeff Brown, Dino Villanueva and David Kurrasch are one fine oiled machine. Through out his hour set James performed his single hits "Let's Don't Call It A Night" and "Crying On A Suitcase" including his current single "The Good Life". From the crowd's excitement new material is performed "Nothing Like You",  "A Woman's Touch" and "Get On The Road" along with others that still have me re-listening to videos. Oozing soul and blues in "A Girl Like You" and "A Woman's Touch" is feeling James' fire beneath the surface. It is no doubt James fuels his passion for music. The energizing "Get On A Roll" is fist pumping as Dino describes fist pumping to get the crowd in doing just that. On the ever sweet and ever soulful "So Sweet" generates heat from the ladies making temperatures rise in the building. Not one minute does James feel to look out in the crowd, holding his hands to his head to also brushing the hair away from his face. It was from the solo leads from each member that truly left me feeling each and every one's passion from the stage, you don't get passion like that, it it either already instilled in you, in your veins or not at all. Without a doubt these men have real passion. At one point throughout the set Casey reminds the crowd to really get into it to even having them sing with him, fan interaction is key, and it was right on, James was impressed. At times James pulls in the guys for some musical interaction, players together are a force to be reckoned with.

It wasn't until  Casey performed "Drive", "Working On It" and "She's Money" that would send the crowd into a manic frenzy. At that moment felt like a British invasion going on, was I morphed back into the 60's with the Beatles, I truly felt the floor shaking beneath me. It was an experience I will never forget. As the hour began to wind down I felt the urge to swipe the sweat rolling down my face trying to keep my clothes from sticking to me and brushing the hair away from my face. Before the closing number Casey tells the crowd he would stay behind to meet with everyone, sign photos and take pictures, what a gentleman. Pure, honest, passionate Casey James gives good meaning to country music and his growing fan base, this is what it's about. You'll find me at future shows.

She's been on the scene longer than you can imagine though Maggie Rose has definitely made a name for herself. Her first released single "I Ain't Your Mama" had people listening, now with a brand new single "Better" and a video to come things are just getting better for Maggie Rose. "Better" is the freshest country song to come out of country music these days and you'll want to hear this song if you haven't yet.

Kip Moore's rise to stardom has been a sweet ride, a long one at that and what has come from it, three top hit singles  "Mary Was The Marrying Kind","Somethin' Bout A Truck" and 'Beer Money". The growth in Moore is absolutely awe inspiring to all ages. In the past year Kip has found himself on many platforms touring and not only at your local bar or night club either, from the fairs, festivals, cruises and more. In 2013 already alone Moore has found himself on new charted territory touring with headlining acts from Toby Keith to Brantley Gilbert, I say Kip Moore has found his place in country music and taking you the fans on the ride of his life. There is nothing like the sweet sound of Phil Vassar that truly sends shock waves through our hearts. Vassar pulls his soulful vocals to the root on his new single "Love Is Alive",   contagious to the point you'll want to hear more. If there was any indication Phil Vassar would rather stick to songwriting over performing then this clearly explains it. Vassar shows longevity on a musical level and "Love Is Alive" is just the ticket.
You'll feel an instant attraction and pull  and may even romance you're special someone with "Love Is Alive" and you can, like, rate and buy "Love Is Alive" at iHeart Radio or even want the song just for yourself , download at Amazon and iTunes.

The rough around the edges Gary Allan has a charming mysterious persona, though Allan is relateable to audiences. His voice is honky tonk, twang and grit to the bone. His flaws are his greatest strength as Gary has explained in interviews. The follow up single to  "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)", "Pieces" has a reflective tone that is catchy to the ear. For the honky tonk country fan at heart this song will have you singing along. Allan's Set You Free critically acclaimed album of the year is a must have, it will set you free on a great musical journey.
These are the pieces of you too. Get the new single "Pieces" at Amazon, like, listen and buy "Pieces" at iHeart Radio.

Casey James Fan Correspondent Dusty Armadillo LIVE Recap

I am truly grateful to special Casey James fan Shelly Cataline  Country Music City Promotions Fan Correspondent who made the journey and trip from Lansing, Michigan for my place of absence for the sold out Dusty Armadillo Casey James show Saturday February 9,2013. Her dedication and support is truly unwavering. Thank you Shelley!

Casey James  photos by Shelley Cataline

One could tell you Casey James wears his heart and emotions on his sleeve, it is true, and as the person he is, artist and musician he truly shines. At his first live sold out show at The Dusty Armadillo the hottest little night club in Rootstown, Ohio Saturday night James performed the hits "Let's Don't Call It A Night" and "Crying On A Suitcase" from his debut album including "Drive", "The Good Life" and "She's Money" before breaking out into new material.

" Breaking Through The Blue" an up tempo tune has the making of a country radio hit single, it's contagious melody fits that radio mold. For those who have seen James live changes guitars through out the hour and a half set. Once James pulls out the shiny black and sliver  guitar fans  know it's time for "Drive" the fast paced, upbeat song that guarantees you to get those feet a tapping. On the new "A Woman's Touch" a soulfully bluesy song has quickly become a fan favorite among the Team Casey James fan base, fans want to see this become a follow up single ( not yet released). The song itself has a seductive soulful blues vibe any woman would fall for. Steel guitarist David Kurrasch brings the song it's magic.

Partly through the set Casey talks to the crowd before breaking into "Crying On A Suitcase", as of 2-11-13 on media base chart Crying On A Suitcase sits at number 14. It was quite obvious everyone knew the song singing along with James and as for the grin on his face that I see often at shows Casey loves when the crowd breaks out singing along with him. Following, Casey went on to perform yet another new penned song, "Run Away"  to " Love The Way You Miss Me" in which Casey so deservedly dedicates to our service men and women who are serving our country. In the upbeat bluesy cover of "So High" which James performs frequently had the crowd cheering and dancing. On yet another newly penned song James performs "She's My Girl" and for those who haven't heard the newly performed songs country music fans can see and hear them on YouTube, they are well worth watching. It was a bitter sweet moment for Casey to announce friend and keyboardist Justin Pate was moving on in his musical endeavors, after some tears were shed it was clear how upsetting it was to announce. This would be Justin's last gig with the Casey James band. These are moments that are most difficult and the crowd cheered him on and we can only wish Justin the best in his journey.

On the last song sung  James breaks out on the cover of "Polk Salad Annie" a real crowd pleaser and fan favorite to which each band member is spotlighted and recognized for their artistry. Visibly Casey get's lost in the moment with his guitar on the song. In some instances Polk Salad Annie lasts up to 15 minutes, however on this night Casey and the band played roughly  8 to 10 minutes.
Truly Casey and his band mates have a special bond, their good hearted nature is just who they are.
