Lucy Hale Sums It Up During Country Music Chat with Jessica Northey

Pretty Little Liars star, rising country star of 2014 Lucy Hale was so well received during her first live twitter chat via Country Music Chat Monday Jan 6th was hard to stay a float through the hour long chat. Among community questions that entered the forum host Jessica Northey had special guest Bethany Priest of BethanyOnAir fill in through out the session. The community questions were much random and spur of the moment through out and though I tried to stay on top of it all I was able enough to grab all the direct CMchat questions from Jessica herself. Lucy truly comes into her own as real as she is smart, funny and down to earth.

CMchat Q1:  You actually got your start on reality TV singing show  American Juniors, how did you end up acting?
Lucy:  Being someone that's creative, I'm always looking for different outlets acting was a surprise interest along the way.

CMchat Q2:  What made you choose country music?
Lucy: It's what I grew up listening to, it's majority of what I listen to now. It felt genuine and felt like home.

CMchat Q3: When your not singing, acting, performing what do you like to spend your free time doing?
Lucy: I'm teaching myself to relax, reading, lounging, etc.

CMchat Q4: What have you learned from acting that you use for music?
Lucy: You have to tell a story or evoke an emotion when singing a song.

CMchat Q5: What have you had to "unlearn" from acting when singing/performing?
Lucy: It's nice to get to finally be myself. I don't have to hide behind a character, wardrobe or dialogue.

CMchat Q6: What is something you've always wanted to try but haven't?
Lucy: I'm not extremely spontaneous, so maybe sky diving... MAYBE!

Q7: What other singer/musicians inspire you and why?
Lucy: Cool thing about music is that you can find inspiration from anyone.

CMchat Q8: Do you have any hidden talents?
Lucy: I can shoot a bow and arrow pretty well and I can do a 3 leaf clover with my tongue.

CMchat Q9: What is your long term goal with country music?
Lucy: When I started this journey It was never for a hit single or one awesome album. I wanted it to be a lifetime thing.

CMchat Q10: What can fans expect to hear on your debut album?
Lucy: True sense of who I am, what I stand for, and a lot of fun. I wanted it to feel like a good time.

CMchat Q11: What is the best advice anyone has given you about country music and who was it?
Lucy: Simply to just be myself.

CMchat Q12: What you you want people to leave CMchat knowing about you?
Lucy: I just hope people see me with a fresh pair of eyes and ears and that I appreciate the support people have shown. It pumps me up!

The Introduction of Rising Country Artist Dylan Scott

Louisiana southern boy Dylan Scott isn't only easy on the eyes, his deep baritone voice will make any female fan melt, a real guys guy Scott is an avid hunter and outdoors man. His connection and appeal is the whole package. Since bursting onto the Nashville scene this past spring Scott has traveled the country in support of his national EP release with his brand new single "Makin' This Boy Go Crazy" gaining exposure and making connections on Music Row. The 5 track EP gives us a glimpse what Scott is about without taking himself too seriously. The heart of a man is seen through the eyes and his approach with others, Dylan Scott is that guy.

Who is Dylan Scott?
Dylan Scott hails from Bastrop, Louisiana near Monroe who currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee. Dylan has been around music his entire life his dad Scotty played guitar and sang harmony during the 70's and 80's with country artists Freddy Fender and Freddy Hart. Also, Dylan's great aunt, Marie Jarvis, played piano with the Southern Gospel Group, The Melody Boys and taught piano at the Stamps Baxter School of Music. At the age of 2, his Aunt Marie would sit Dylan on her lap and teach him the rudiments of the keyboard. Dylan's cousin, Linda Robinson Sholar, played for the Speer Family, The Downings, The Higher Ground and briefly with the Stamps Quartet (who backed Elvis). She also taught piano to famed piano-man, producer and record executive, Tony Brown who played with both J.D Summers and The Stamps as well as having production credits for George Strait and Reba McEntire to name a few. Dylan's greatest musical influence and role model is the late great Keith Whitley, among him credits Merle Haggard,George Strait and Tim McGraw as musical influences.Dylan gained national exposure at a young age winning two major music competitions, the final for the Colgate Country Music Showdown in his native Louisiana and the Neal McCoy East Texas Angel Network Talent Contest in 2009. Before landing a record deal with Sidewalk Records (partner of Curb Records) in 2010 at the age of 19, Dylan worked in construction and became a fitness trainer part-time. When Dylan isn't in Nashville he's back home in Bastrop hunting, being outdoors.

The other side of Dylan Scott
Aside from being on stage performing Scott comes off as much of what you see is what you get. Unpretentious, down to earth and laid back with a little hyper thrown in the mix. Unpredictable and appreciative Dylan sure adores fans who come out to support the budding rising star. His star status may be rising though Scott is simply a down home boy next door any girl could take home to dad.If that isn't enough Scott's sense of humor is simply contagious, who can make anyone's day brighter.

A Season of Hope: Christmas Message From Country Music City Promotions

As I look back on 2013 many have come and gone brand new opportunities were given and country music still remained in tact. Every little act of kindness, sharing stories and new friendships emerged. To say thank you is an understatement I gratefully appreciate the support and sponsorship from country music fans and the country music association.
It is a humble feeling and as it is will never be taken for granted. Country music and writing is my greatest love and passion and for everyone to follow, support, encourage along the way, well, it is more than I could ever imagine.
May your Christmas be as bright, peaceful and joyous to you this Christmas season and may the Lord be with you and remain in your heart.

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS

ACA Winners, The Nights Highlights and More: Predictable

As predictable as it can be the 4th annual American Country Awards had it's hits and misses of the night in Tuesday night's live broadcast from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV. Hosts Trace Adkins and Danica Patrick gave a romping night of banter, humerous laughable moments from dressed Vegas showgirls to getting caught race car driving through the Vegas strip from an Elvis imposter posing as a police officer. The nights most highlighted moments sure entertained and brought the audience to their feet. LeAnn Rimes tribute to Pasty Cline didn't leave a dry eye in the house. The emotional performance celebrated Cline's short lived success in country music, it left a staple on Rimes and many others in today's country. The medley included Crazy, Walkin' After Midnight,If You Got Leaving On Your Mind and Sweet Dreams. Performances from Lady Antebellum, Randy Houser, Kellie Pickler and Thomas Rhett were an authentic  mix of traditional and contemporary country as it's stand outs of the night. They may have a way with fans hearts, though Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan ran the show as they were the main attraction, yes it's a fan voted awards show, go figure. Don't shoot the messenger, country music fans are awesome, some however are quite the opposite. In what was memorable of the awards given was presented to Taylor Swift from Olivia Newton John, the ACA World Wide Artist is truly fitting as Swift continues to tour internationally giving back to fans in all countries. Brad Paisley was presented the Video Visionary Artist Award, Paisley is a true visionary and so as it is suitable for the musician. Much of the night was boring though at times interesting as it was. The predictability factor kind of left me wanting to see more in the two hour broadcast. It didn't leave any unpredictable moments, it was simply run of the mill. I say what happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas.
What are your thoughts of the ACAs?
